Alitis is proud to be a finalist for the 2023 Vancouver Island Business Excellence Awards. We are one of 125 Finalists selected from 374 nominated businesses in 17 categories.
In the midst of the 2008 financial crisis, it became evident that there was a need for a new investment strategy that would help investors survive future market fluctuations. Thus in 2009, Alitis was created. By offering access to alternative investments, such as private real estate, private equity and private mortgages, this was expected to act as a safeguard in investors’ portfolios to help better navigate market volatility and deliver better risk-adjusted returns. The volatility demonstrated in the stock and bond markets in 2022 further emphasized the importance of having meaning allocations to alternative asset classes as they exhibited limited correlation to publicly traded securities. A testament to Alitis’ vision was that their flagship fund, the Alitis Income & Growth Pool was a top performing fund in its category, Global Neutral Balanced, in Canada in 2022 according to Fundata.com (as reported on January 12, 2023). There were 3,066 funds/classes of funds in the Global Neutral Balanced category with returns for the year and the Alitis Income & Growth Class D and Class E Units were ranked #10 and #20 respectively. Only 27 in this category that made money in 2022, with the Alitis Income and Growth Pool being one of them. Truly a difficult feat with 2022 being the rollercoaster ride that it was.
This past year was also one of growth for the firm. Alitis opened a new office in the Comox Valley, which will serve as an extension to the Campbell River and Victoria offices.

“Having local staff and a local office makes a big difference. It’s a commitment to our clients, our team and our business associates who refer clients to the firm — we’re here, and we want to be part of the Comox Valley’s future. Alitis now has over $400 million in assets under management and expanding to the Comox Valley is a logical step in our growth strategy.”
With an expanded footprint on Vancouver Island, Alitis also added 4 new team members in their Client Services, Administration and Branch Operations departments and 1 new team member in their Real Estate Investment Division. The team at Alitis now has over 250 years of collective industry experience.
Winners will be announced at a gala celebration on Thursday, January 26th at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in Nanaimo.
